In my class this morning, I was speaking about how systems effect each other. I explained that they have never been in the same place twice. Although we live on the earth, the earth is flying through space around our star that we call the sun. The sun is one of many stars flying through our galaxy, and our galaxy is one of many flying around a cluster of galaxies. Therefore, we are in a totally different "space" than we were yesterday. This raised curiosity in me as to how fast we were traveling. As a result, I found out.

The Earth travels around the sun at 66, 666 mph. The Sun (our solar system) rotates around the center of the Milky Way at between 420, 000 and 540, 000 mph. Finally, it is believed that the Milky Way is traveling or moving around a "local group" of galaxies at 2, 237, 000 mph.
